Re: 39 gr bking or 35 gr bergers for a fur bullet.

As we don't have fox here, I really can't say but for coyotes I have found that the hollow point is more fur friendly than the plastic tip. I have also found that the slower I run them ,the less fur damage. I don't like to "Knit one pearl two" all that much . For a straight on chest shot o...

Re: Indepence Day Rat Shoot

What a great day we had. Perfect temperature, lots of squirrels, accurate rifles and great company. Thanks Kevin for the shooting lesson. I was very impressed with Kevin’s shooting. I watched him turn Skippy’s fur coat inside out over and over and over at ranges from 300 -340 yds. with a brisk wind ...

Re: I also had a RIO experience !!!!!

To tell you the truth Jim, It sucks. Just goes to show that all that glitters is not gold. I have shot over 300 rounds through it with 4 different powders and 4 different bullets. It’s like shooting a shotgun. One time I may get in the 3’s.Next 3 shot 2 close together and one 2 “ away or 1” group Bu...

Re: my experience forming 20vt brass

I just completed turning 600 pieces of 223 into 20 VT but used a different approach for cutting the long necks to length. I clamped a 2x4 to the bench. Drilled a 7/16" x 1-3/16" deep hole in it close to the edge. I then took a piece of 1”x 2” x 3/16” scrap steel and drilled a ¼ “ hole in t...

Single stage press vs turret

For precision loading , Would a Redding T-7 Turret press be as accurate as a single stage press. My old Rock chucker has seen better days. :(

Long trim length ?

The chamber length of my 17 mach IV is 1.446”. The directions that came with the Sinclair chamber length gage indicated to maintain neck length a minimum of .024”shorter than the chamber. Therefore I could feasibly trim my cases to 1.422”.My winter project has been, reducing lake city 223 brass (bee...

17 fireball vs 17 mach IV

Since a 17 fireball and a 17 Mach IV are so similar, can published load data for the fireball be used for the Mach IV,
or is there to much difference between the two . Dan

Re: How tight is too tight

I guess I described it wrong Rick. I necked a 221 down to 17 m4.The chamber seems to be .202 and the loaded round
Is .200 leaving only .001 on each side for bullet release.is that enough or do I need to trim them another .002. Thanks, Dan

How tight is too tight

Is trimming necks to .002 clearance loaded, less than chamber size , to tight? If so, what clearance is o.k.? Thanks. Dan
