Re: Nice chuck outing

Correct Rick. Thank you for your comments. Getting old has both advantages and disadvantages for sure. :)

Nice chuck outing

Well yesterday was a nice warm, sunny day with no wind, so off I went with the 20 Tac and 17 HMR for a look see for some Rock chucks. One area I like has a long lava rock ridge and a couple of rock outcroppings that usually hold some. And they did. Saw about six off and on moving around and sun bath...

Re: The Annual 2024 Rat Rodeo

I have and do use some of Calhoon's 33 grain 20 cal, HP's, flat base in some of my 20 cal rifles and have not noticed anything like them welding or stick in the neck. But maybe due to some of them only sitting around for less than a couple months prior to giving flying lessons. :D

Re: Found some RL10x

Very good Skipper. Just about what I did and how I came up with the groups my 204's like, but with CFE 223. Looking forward to your target score in the next shoot. :D

Re: The Annual 2024 Rat Rodeo

Speaking of snow, some more coming down and sticking this time. But it should be letting up by tomorrow afternoon, so the weather reports say. Interesting little fact of sorts regarding the snow I get. Every month since late Nov-23 now up until today, I have has some degree of snow each and every mo...

Re: The Annual 2024 Rat Rodeo

Well one California movement into your area is a good thing. Those California Poppies looks good and will offer some feed for those Chucks. :D

And I am also grounded until this rain and snow stops in my area also. But, like you, will do some loading room/bench activity. :)

Re: found CFE223

Agree, enjoy the grouping you are getting. My 204R does very well with CFE223 also. Always remember a slow accurate bullet trumps a fast inaccurate one. :)

Re: The Annual 2024 Rat Rodeo

Yes Rick it is beginning to warm and sun shine more. However some light rain predicted the next day or two. But I am seeing a few chucks sunning now and then, so they will begin coming out more often. Just let the young one's grow a little more, then look out. GS's are beginning to pop up in places,...

Re: New .204 options

Yes and no on the twist issue. The 1/12 twist often will be borderline on grouping with the heavy bullets. A really good balance, seems to be a 1/11 twist, which it appears most of us with the 204R use. However saying that again, maybe your rifle and 1/12 will shoot them, with a load you work up. Ho...

Re: New .204 options

Either rifle you are looking at will do the job. I would favor the Ruger rifle and with the 1/12 twist you will find the 39 grn bullet will be a better choice as most 1/12 twists seem not to like the 40 grn bullet, as for best accuracy and grouping. Saying that however any coyote hit with the 39 grn...

Re: The Annual 2024 Rat Rodeo

Thanks Rick. My area is just now starting to warm, but the wind being cool yet, seems to be keeping them down, for the most part. In time I will get more shooting in.
Looks like all of you fellows had a good time and nice weather. Again Thanks for sharing all of that. :D

Re: 204 Ruger, which factory rifle?

Looks like a decent set up for a walk about rifle. Should not be that heavy with the sling. How does it group with your loads, etc. ? :)
